Randolph County Community Profile

Randolph County is located in the eastern part of Indiana on the Indiana-Ohio Stateline and has a population of 27,401. it is both an agricultural and industrial county. Agriculture consists mostly of raising corn & soybeans, but also has nationally and internationally know livestock breeders. Randolph County is proud to have given two governors to the State of Indiana, Governor Pierre Goodrich from Winchester and Governor Issac Grey from Union City.


Transportation

Winchester, the county seat is located 50 miles east of 1-69 and 25 miles north of 1-70. Highways 32 & 27 intersect in Winchester.


Airport

The Randolph County Airport is located 3 miles east of Winchester. It has a runway that is 3,980 ft. long and has 2 instrument approaches. Office Hours are: 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. The Manager is Eric Livingston.


Education in Randolph County

Randolph County has 5 school corporations: Randolph Central School Corporation, Randolph Eastern School Corporation, Randolph Southern School Corporation, Monroe Central School Corporation and Union School Corporation.


Health Care

St.Vincent Randolph Hospital, a JCAHO-accredited health system and 25-bed Critical Access Hospital, has been providing health services to area residents since 1919. The hospital joined St.Vincent Health and the Ascension Health family on July 1, 2000. A rural health system, St.Vincent Randolph Hospital has two federally designated rural health clinics and employs more than 200 associates. A new hospital with all private rooms was opened in November 2001.

More than 42 specialists representing cardiology, hematology, neurology, gastroenterology, urology, neurology, and oncology are available through our Specialty Clinics. Specialists from IU Ball Memorial Hospital and other neighboring hospitals come to Winchester to serve the community of Randolph County.

These two clinics house the practice for eleven Health Care Providers. Both clinics have been designated by the state of Indiana as “model” Rural Health Clinic and Training Centers. The Rural Health Clinics services include: primary care, wellness, diagnostic, laboratory, mental health, occupational health, rehabilitation and case management/outreach programs.

An 18,000 sq. ft. addition, completed in June 2002 has expanded the Fidler Medial Pavilion in Winchester to include housing for orthopedic services, additional primary care, additional specialty services, oncology services and a 12-bay Dialysis Center. The Dialysis Center is managed and operated by Ball Memorial Hospital.

Winchester and Randolph County are also served by Reid Health with their offices located in Winchester, Ridgeville and Lynn. From primary care to specialized health services, Reid Health can provide a variety of options for our communities health care needs.
